We have been designing log cabin homes and assisting in the construction for many years.
With over 35 years of construction and design experience we have created the simplest, easiest and most efficient way to construct log cabins that we can see in North America.

These plans are designed for use as cabins for short term use OR for those individuals who desire to size down and live very efficiently.

When you price out the ELK RIVER LOG CABINS system with that of any 'kit' log cabin seller, you should see and realize a savings of thousands of $dollar$.

The idea behind this is based on the belief that if you desire to build a log cabin that YOU are fully capable of cutting a board yourself to a specified length. So why in heavens name should you pay someone else thousands of extra dollars just to pre-cut the boards for you?

You can save yourself thousands of dollars by having the materials delivered directly to your site from the mill, lumber yard or home center closest to you rather than pay me to buy them, ship them to my location, unload them, pay for a facility and the labor (to say nothing of the overhead to run a business) to process and cut them, then reload them and re-ship the cut material to you? To me that not only does not make sense but it does not seem to be environmentally responsible either. One way to be 'green' is to use materials manufactured as close as possible to your location.

Further, we believe that if time is your biggest consideration for wanting to purchase a 'pre-cut' package that with our system you could hire a local contractor to erect this for you and still probably save money compared to buying the pre-cut kit.

My plans and construction guides will lead you through (nearly) EVERY possible situation that you will need to know to construct your own ELK RIVER LOG CABIN yourself. When those totally unique challenges show up be assured that we will be here to answer any questions or help you through your situation.
Because conditions differ and peoples desires vary, we have provided for multiple options for each plan. Including four different foundation types including; post and beam, treated wood walls, concrete foundation walls including concrete block or ICF's and slab on grade. Which ever system works for your conditions we have accommodated for your convenience.

Also for the roof system we have designed for open rafters, trusses, or thicker rafters with insulation. Roofs are very important to be designed for your location and climate in conjunction with how you are going to use your new ELK RIVER LOG CABIN, as in occasional weekends, hunting season or for full time living.

Some people want a steep pitch roof either to accommodate a loft or just for snow reasons so we give you the option of either a steep pitch or shallow pitch roof for ANY plan. You will see examples of both roof types in the photos as well as the different foundation types. Just know that you can have what ever option you want on any of the floor plans offered.
